ROBOTICIST 2020 event happened this past Saturday, February 8, at UNF Student Union Ballroom from 10am to 1pm. Roboticist 2020 is an annual celebration showcasing student talents in robotics. Students from 12 robotics teams from Communities in Schools of Jacksonville and Shiva Robotics Academy, who won awards at the qualifying tournaments, participated in Roboticist 2020. The event drew 300 attendees who were mostly educators, robotic experts, parents and students. It was an immersive robotics educational experience for these students, learning the practical application of robotics. Robotic experts demonstrated 3D printing, Medical robotic exoskeleton, Drones, LEGO Robots, Metal robots and STEM Activities to the students. Scott Wilson, the President of the City Council for District 4, delivered the Keynote Speech. Robotics Coaches and students were recognized by Leon Baxton, CEO of Communities in Schools of Jacksonville. The event had attendance from other dignitaries like Pinckney Sylvester from Kids Hope Alliance, Joe Moseley, LEGO Master Educator from Ocala, Alex Crooks, World Robot Olympiad Program Manager, Steve Strum from BUZZ TV, Robert McIver from Brooks Cybernic Treatment Center and Dan McDougall with 3D printing. Thanks to the robot demo by FIRST TECH Challenge students from Crazy Cat Ladies, JEA, Team Saturn and Bolles Teams. FIRST LEGO League Junior teams from Andrew Robinson Elementary and Woodland Acres Elementary were at the event. FIRST LEGO League teams from Dupont Middle school, JEB Stuart middle school and Jean Ribault middle school along with SHIVA teams Master Builders, FREE Wifi and Atomatrons showcased their robot and presentations. Shiva Robotics Academy founder Kalai Sankar, presided over and coordinated the event.
